Storage Networking World, Dallas, TX—Oct. 16, 2007—WysDM Software, Inc., the leading provider of advanced data protection management (DPM) solutions, today announced WysDM 4, the latest release of its DPM software suite which includes major enhancements to its WysDM for Backups™ and WysDM for Fileservers™ products. The company also added a new product to its solution suite, WysDM for Disks, which brings WysDM’s market-leading DPM functionality to disk arrays. Throughout the new WysDM 4 platform, the company has added significant advances in compliance and risk mitigation, security, and capacity planning to provide businesses with a full picture of their data protection risk while reducing the time to provision storage and enhancing overall storage utilization.
Large enterprise customers across 26 countries in financial services, pharmaceutical and telecommunications are seeing significant benefits with WysDM’s DPM offering. WysDM 4 includes a comprehensive set of new features to deliver reports that meet the requirements for compliance regulations as well as best practices to ensure that audits against such regulations are successful. WysDM for Backups also provides a number of reports and analyses that give data protection administrators visibility into the effectiveness of their data protection environment, including alerts whenever a system has not been successfully backed up and end-of-month reports that expose key compliance metrics to managers and auditors.

Additional new features in the WysDM 4 product suite include:
- WysDM for Disks – this new product joins the WysDM DPM suite to provide configuration and status information for disk arrays, allowing storage administrators to manage utilization metrics, balance LUN allocations across array ports, and ensure fan-out ratios do not exceed vendors’ specifications.
- Provisioning and capacity planning for fileservers – this reduces the time to provision storage from existing pools and significantly enhances storage utilization figures.
- Unparalleled performance, scalability and security – leveraging experience with large enterprises with thousands of servers, the company has architected WysDM 4 to deliver maximum performance and security for even the largest data protection environments in the world.
To simplify the user experience, WysDM 4 also features a wizard-based approach for faster configuration, setup, and data collection. Additionally, the product increases overall performance in three major ways: by moving report processing from the GUI to the server, where there are more resources; by reducing the amount of data sent across the network; and by reducing the work needed to investigate common backup failures.
